We’re Recruiting Chapter Leaders — The First Institute of Canadian Inventors
We’re currently recruiting student volunteers across several Canadian campuses to help grow & lead our University initiatives for 2020-2021.
TORONTO, November 7, 2020 — The First Institute of Canadian Inventors (FICI) is looking for highly motivated students who would like to gain some experience through leading a FICI campus chapter for the 2020–2021 academic term.
We invite any student, regardless of experience, who has an entrepreneurial spirit, and an interest in innovation & technology to reach out to us to learn more about how they can get involved with FICI campus leadership.
We are currently looking to fill leadership roles at the following Universities 👇
University of Guelph, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Ryerson University, and McMaster University.
What will you be doing?👇
FICI Campus Chapter Leaders work directly with FICI’s President to help activate + mobilize FICI’s efforts, initiatives and programs across their respective campuses. This means you are able to help organize a variety of invention/innovation-focused events (virtual for now), competitions, challenges and programming for students on your campus. Your role will also be to find new ways to engage students and bring awareness to FICI’s services, resources and programs, especially given the current circumstances and shift to virtual engagements.
What’s in it for you?👇
Though this is a volunteer role, there are a number of ways in which we directly support our Campus Chapter Leaders. You’ll receive free & prioritized access to all of our programming, virtual events, workshops etc. along with unlimited, free Discovery Sessions with our experts to help shape & develop any ideas you may have yourself. Beyond all that, you’ll build a strong network and develop valuable skills that you’ll carry forward with you throughout your career. As we continue to grow, we will look to develop a Chapter Leader incentive plan which will reward those who have succeeded in engaging and activating students on their campuses. These incentives include commissions, bonuses, perks and opportunities for future paid positions with The First Institute of Canadian Inventors.
Given that most Universities are approaching the end of the fall term, we are hoping to connect with students prior to the holidays to prepare for the winter term. There is no deadline to apply but Chapter Leadership roles are limited.
If you’re interested in learning more about how you can get involved, please reach out to Babak Khodaparast via LinkedIn or by email at info@fici.ca to schedule a virtual chat!
About FICI
FICI is a non-profit organization established in 2015 to support Canadian inventors & innovators. We represent Canada as a member of the 95 countries that are members of the International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA). The IFIA, based in Geneva & Silicon Valley, was established in 1968 and has operated under observation of the United Nations. We at FICI provide our members with the world-class resources & access they need to commercialize their ideas, protect their inventions, and go-to-market successfully, establishing themselves as global professionals. We proudly support hundreds of members across several provinces, either directly, or through our key partnerships with other recognized organizations. FICI is frequently involved in hosting or participating in international competitions, in which our National Inventors Teams have been highly successful. We also oversee several independently governed FICI Chapters at some of the top Canadian Universities, including the University of Toronto & Waterloo, amongst others. We’re actively looking to support entrepreneurs, innovators & inventors through our services and programs — so, how can we help?
